Constantly updating your social media profiles can be time-consuming. But it's important to keep your accounts secure across different social media platforms.
While there can be different platform-specific triggers for social media breakups, it's important to understand the main causes. Here are the most common reasons:
Changing the main password for your admin account or your page
Access token expiration
Loss of portal access for the user who linked the profile as admin
Admin rights being removed from the user who linked the profile
Overwriting account permissions that were recently given to dotsimple while connecting to another social profile with lower account permissions
Standard security checks from third-party apps by social media platforms like Facebook
Connectivity restrictions from third-party apps like Twitter
Changes to the social media platform's API

Now that you’ve got some troubleshooting insights, let’s check out some best practices to keep your social media connection rock-solid:
Stay active: Log in to your DotSimple account regularly and use each social media platform so they stay active and don't get disconnected.
Update access tokens: Since access tokens expire over time, refresh your account connection. Disconnect and reconnect your profile if needed.
Give the right permissions: Make sure DotSimple has the right permissions for every connected social media platform. New Facebook profiles need to grant the necessary permissions to avoid overwriting old ones.
Check the admin panel: Regularly check the accesses granted to DotSimple in your admin panel for each social media platform to keep everything connected.
Watch out for API updates: Pay attention to API updates from different social media platforms, since they can cause temporary disconnections.
Boost security: Protect your login info and consider turning on two-factor authentication. This lowers the chance of disconnects caused by frequent login issues.
Team communication: Keep communication open with your team members about what they're doing on your social media platforms to avoid accidental actions that might disconnect things.
Important: This feature is only available if you have more than one member in your workspace. If there are no members in your workspace, you'll get the notification automatically by email. Also, keep in mind that only people who are set as admin in this social network will be notified.
Go to your account: Click on your name at the bottom left to open the menu.
Open settings: In the menu, select the "Settings" option.
Choose the recipients: Under the section "Notifications on token expiration" you can decide which members should be notified.
Updates from the social network: The token becomes invalid if the platform makes changes, like during a major update.
Updates at DotSimple: After an update to our tool, you might need to reconnect the token.
Manual disconnection of the link: If the connection to a social network was removed manually, the token loses its validity.
With these settings, you can make sure the right person is always informed when an account token needs to be renewed.
